The New York Times believes in "balance" as we all know.


So, to "balance" President Obama's strong electoral support among women, the nation's newspaper of record went a'hunting.

'Who can we come up with to provide a little bit of balance to Obama?  

'Got it!  

'Let's find a millionaire Barnard graduate and ask her to declare that President Obama demeans women.'

Check.

'We'll have our balancer-millionaire Barnard graduate focus on a Barnard graduation speech - not on substantive policy.' 

Check.

'We'll have our balancer-millionaire Barnard graduate ignore Clinton at the Department of State, Sibelius at HHS, and even Napolitano at Homeland Security.' 

Check.

'Our balancer-millionaire Barnard grad must ignore these women , so as to be able to complain, in our op-ed headline, 

"Obama: 

Stop Condescending to Women"

Check.

'We'll have our balancer-millionaire put words in Obama's mouth - “Behind every great man is a great woman.” - stuff he has never said -

Check 

' . . . and then criticize Obama for the "fake praise" which is "so tired" but which Obama has never uttered.' 

Check. 

'But it's all about the economy, so we gotta find someone who is not above putting in something about noble but struggling women - who do not want any government help. At all.'

Check 

'Got it! 'Let's have our balancer-millionaire refer sympathetically to some of her unnamed but poor-yet-dignified relatives who are said to say: we are in a tough spot but we prefer it that way. No g'vment handouts for us! - our balancer can, say this for them.'

Check. 

 'And there is no need for our balancer millionaire Barnard graduate to point out that her hard-hit relations were hardest hit by George Bush's inattention and his administration's gimicky give-to-the-rich budget numbers, and that Obama is trying to get this fixed.'

Perfect!

'But what if we can't find a female millionaire Barnard grad who will do all this 'balance' for us?'

What to do . . . what to do . . . Prob solved:

'Let's just mosey on over to the Romney campaign and find the wife of a staffer or adviser or whatever - and get her to do it.

Teams of Physicists Closing in on the ‘God Particle’

A thousand physicists working at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, Ill., reported in Paris on Monday that they had not found the “God particle,” yet. But they are beginning to figure out where it is not.

Its mass — in the units preferred by physicists — is not in the range between 158 billion and 175 billion electron volts, according to a talk by Ben Kilminster of Fermilab at the International Conference on High Energy Physics in Paris. 

[MY QUESTION - HOW CAN A GUY NAMED "KILMINSER' GET PAST AIRPORT SECURITY] 

And so the most intensive particle hunt in the history of physics goes on.

Over the last decade physicists working on two separate experiments at Fermilab have combed the debris from a thousand trillion (1 with 15 zeros) collisions of protons and anti-protons looking for signs of the Higgs boson, which is said to be responsible for imbuing some other elementary particles with mass. Rumors fanned by a blogger that the Higgs, dubbed the “God particle,” by former Fermilab director Leon Lederman in a book of the same name, had been detected reached all the way to Gawker last week and focused attention on the Paris conference, which also featured a speech by President Nicolas Sarkozy of France. 

[MY QUESTION - IF THOUSANDS OF PHYSICISTS ARE EXPERT AT "COMBING DEBRIS" CAN'T A FEW OF THEM BE DIVERTED TO THE GULF OF MEXICO? NOT ALL, BUT JUST A FEW?] 

[MY QUESTIONS: WHAT DID PRES SARKOZY ADD TO ALL THIS IN HIS SPEECH? AND OWING TO HIS STATURE, DOES SARKOZY STILL HAVE TO SIT BACKWARDS IN THE OFFICIAL LIMO? 

The new results, combining the data from two separate Fermi experiments, DZero and C.D.F., narrow the range in which the Higgs, if it exists, must be hiding. Physicists had previously concluded that it must lie somewhere between 115 billion and 200 billion electron volts. By comparison a proton, the anchor of ordinary matter, weighs in at about a billion electron volts. 

[MY QUESTION: DON'T YOU HAVE TO FIND OUT IF HIGGS EXISTS BEFORE YOU CAN KNOW IF HE IS HIDING? (I'M JUST SAYING)] 

A new competitor is about to enter the hunt. Physicists from CERN’s Large Hadron Collider near Geneva, the most powerful accelerator in the world, announced that their machine, which started operating at half power in March, with 3.5 trillion electron volt protons, had rediscovered all of particle physics, most recently the top quark, and thus the table was set for it begin to look for new physics as well as the Higgs. The new collider has registered about 1.5 billion collisions, but with more energy at its disposal it hopes to catch up to Fermilab in a year or so. 

[MY QUESTION: WILL THE "NEW COMPETITOR" BE SUBJECT TO THE BANKING REFORM LAW JUST PASSED?] 

[MY 2ND QUESTION: SHOULDN'T A SENTENCE THAT CONTAINS THE PHRASES "REDISCOVERED ALL OF PARTICLE PHYSICS" and "LOOK FOR NEW PHYSICS" ACTUALLY BE TWO SENTENCES? AT LEAST?

HERESY, SCHISM, PEDOPHILIA, THE ORDINATION OF WOMEN - ALL GRAVE OFFENSES

On July 16, 2010, the Vatican announced new rules directing how dioceses around the world are to respond to priestly sex abuse of children. The statute of limitations of the Catholic Church was extended from 10 to 20 years, from the 18th birthday of the victim. 


Possession of child pornography and the abuse of disabled adults were added to the list of offenses that could get a priest reported to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.


At the same time,  an attempt to ordain a woman to the priesthood was elevated in seriousness to the same category as heresy, schism, pedophilia - a most grave crime.

The new rules do not hold bishops accountable for pedophilia among priests under their charge, nor do the revised rules require reporting of sex abuse accusations to civil authorities.

BishopAccountability.org is not impressed with the revisions in the Church's rules, stating that the rules “amount to administrative tinkering of a secretive internal process.” 


Pope Benedict, the group said, "could direct bishops to report every allegation of child sexual abuse to the police, regardless of whether civil law requires them to do so. He could threaten punishment of any bishop or church official who enables or fails to stop a child-molesting priest.” 


“It’s disturbing that the new rules merely will extend the statutes of limitations rather than eliminate them altogether.”

Border Shooting Strains Tensions With Mexico

MEXICO CITY — Mexican authorities expressed fury at the shooting death of a Mexican teenager on Monday night by a Border Patrol agent, while the FBI, which is investigating the death, said the agent had been under attack by rock-throwing migrants attempting to cross into El Paso, Texas.

The government of the Mexican state of Chihuahua condemned the killing of the teenager, Sergio Adrian Hernandez Guereca, 15, calling it a blow to all Mexicans and an example of the xenophobia that the anti-immigration law in Arizona has fomented in the United States.

American officials described the shooting as an act of self defense. Several agents were on a bike patrol in the concrete channel alongside the Rio Grande at about 6:30 p.m. Monday when they encountered a group of suspected illegal immigrants entering the United States. After two suspects were arrested, others in the group fled just across the border to Mexico and began throwing rocks at the agents, the FBI said in a statement. One agent fired several shots and hit the victim, who died at the base of the Paso Del Norte international bridge, officials said.

The Border Patrol says it is subjected to hundreds of rock attacks during its patrols and takes them seriously. From October 2007 to the end of May 2008, there were 537 rock-throwing incidents involving agents, officials said. That number dropped to 460 the following year and then rose to 604 incidents in the most recent reporting period, which ended on May 31.

“There’s a misperception people have that we’re having pebbles thrown at us,” said Mark Qualia, a United States Customs and Border Protection spokesman in Washington. “They are stones the size of baseballs in some cases or half a brick. You can’t take this lightly.”

Pope Benedict XVI: "Many of you found that, when you were courageous enough to speak of what happened to you, no one would listen."

Confronting a sex abuse scandal spreading across Europe,  Pope Benedict XVI on Saturday apologized directly to victims and their families in Ireland, expressing “shame and remorse” and saying “your trust had been betrayed and your dignity has been violated.  . . .  Many of you found that, when you were courageous enough to speak of what happened to you, no one would listen." . . . 

In 2001 the Vatican issued a directive by Benedict, then a cardinal, reiterating a strict requirement for secrecy in handling abuse cases. The directive also gave the authority in handling such cases to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith; Benedict was prefect of the congregation from 1982 until becoming pope in 2005.
